Genre:Pop
I remember well the Godley & Creme version very well. Australian singer Lisa Edwards does a very good remake here just with a more up tempo beat to it to satisfy the youngies.
"Primarily a backing singer, Australian vocalist Lisa Edwards has appeared with some of Australia's biggest acts, as well as releasing several solo singles including "Cry," her biggest hit in 1992. Her debut single was released in 1981, "&Centre Spread"/"&Power." Four years later she released "&You Are My Melbourne"/"&Melbourne the Beginning," a duet with Adrian Campbell. Throughout the mid-'80s, Edwards performed with several bands including White Light Orchestra, the Turbo Luv Nuns, and Short Circuit before joining the John Farnham Band for his successful comeback in 1987. She appeared on Short Circuit's Waiting for the Big One (1988) and the singles "He's Got It" (May 1987), "Waiting for the Big One" (May 1988), and "Burning for You" (December 1988). Edwards' solo single "Cry," a cover of the Godley and Crème tune, peaked at number five in July 1992 and was followed by "So Dangerous." Her debut solo album, Thru the Hoop, was released in August 1993. Two further singles were released from the album, "Until the Day" and "Lose Myself in You," after which she returned to backing John Farnham. ~ Brendan Swift
