"Sex & Candy"

Genre:Alt Pop
Hmmmm, sex, candy or carrots? Toughie aye? But the real order should be Candy, Alcholmohols, carrots with sex ? Well something like that i'm sure i have heard, what do i know i'm just a northern boy. Sheesh. its not like having a nookie in ya kids bed while they are in school aye? Could it be that good? (Boys don't kiss 'n tell)

Marcy Playground's eponymous debut is a well-intentioned but somewhat muddled collection of straightforward post-grunge alt-pop. Songs like "Sex and Candy" capture the band at their best, turning out hard-edged, melodic pop songs with strong hooks and backbeats. Unfortunately, they don't quite have their craft perfected -- only a handful of the songs on the album are as memorable as the single. Still, those moments are what make Marcy Playground a promising, albeit imperfect, debut. Although the members of Marcy Playground met in New York City during the mid-'90s, both singer/songwriter and guitarist and bassist Dylan Keefe originally hail from Minneapolis, while drummer Dan Rieser is a former resident of Ohio. The group took their name from an experimental elementary school that attended in the late '70s (called the Marcy Open School), a time that saw Wozniak intimidated by a few other students, which led to the youngster's refusal to join his peers on the school's playground during recess. Subsequently, claims that this tough period of his life served as "a foundation for a future self" (in an early bio for Marcy Playground, described the origins of the group's name as follows -- "The strange way in which I see the world today can be directly traced back to the time when, as a little boy, I sat paralyzed by the unfortunate realities of life as I looked out of a school window and down onto the Marcy Playground").
