Things you learn about other humans as you go through life. They are inconsistent. Humans change as easy as the weather does. People are like a deck of cards, you can see the back, but never know whats underneath. Your nothing like your parents, yet you evolved from them. No means yes & vice versa. You never marry the one you love, yet, your happy you didn't anyway. You always wish for something you will never have, ever. People who say they are adventurous, work in offices. Those who risk their lives never go to pubs. People who are great with kids never have their own. When facing death an atheist is the first to say "God No". Believing in a religion when you know the Pope has never met God. The meek shall inherit the earth, prophecy fulfilled, George Bush. Being a man is good and being strong is good. Being a woman is knowing strength and feeling good about it without selling out to womankind.

After the breakup of Trip Shakespeare, Minneapolis natives Dan Wilson and John Munson joined up with drummer Jacob Slichter to form Semisonic in 1995. An initial EP, Pleasure, was released that year and the studio full-length Great Divide in 1996 on MCA. It was their sophomore effort, Feeling Strangely Fine, that was Semisonic's major breakthrough in 1998. The album yielded classic pop hits such as "Closing Time" and "Secret Smile" and propelled the band into megastardom. They didn't waste anytime with a follow up either. All About the Chemistry, the band's third album, was issued in early 2001 and single "Chemistry" was a mainstay overseas, however the album didn't fair as well in America. "Over My Head" was fitting for the 2001's teen flick "Summer Catch" and Semisonic rode the wave of various tours in and around the U.K. By fall, Semisonic contributed their cover of the Wings classic, "Jet" for the Paul McCartney Tribute CD, Listen To What The Man Said. Dan Wilson also took time out to do some solo stuff, playing a slew of dates around the Midwest in December. His brother Matt hooked up with Semisonic's John Munson to form the side project, The Flops in 2001. ~ [Steve Huey, All Music Guide]
