Like most people i am not a fan of Courtney Love, but their are two songs that are world class. Actually i find Courtney's acting (ie:The People vs. Larry Flynt) better than her own mythical persona as a rock star.
Courtney Love does herself no favours with the fans of her dead husband, Kurt Cobain, with the likes of selling the rights of Nirvana with ex-Virgin Records COO/GM to manage Nirvana's catalog. No wonder Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) attacks with a song like "Stacked Actors" (Although i have no proof it was aimed at Love or even that "Celebrity Skin" is aimed at Shirley Manson and "Stupid Girl" by Garbage aimed initially by Garbage). Lots of aiming and with big hits huh? oh and don't forget Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins is mixed up in this mess ... How? He co-wrote "Celebrity Skin".

Album: Celebrity Skin is Hole's third and final album, released worldwide on September 7, 1998, and a day later, on September 8, 1998 in the United States. The songs were written by the band, some with the help of Billy Corgan; however, Courtney Love penned all of the lyrics. The studio work took almost a year and a half, due to Love's rising movie career, fruitless recording attempts in New Orleans and Nashville in 1997, Corgan's involvement in songwriting and the actual album sessions, between Los Angeles, New York City, London and Miami. Song: The song was also used in the film American Pie, but it did not appear on the soundtrack. It is Hole's most commercially successful single, being the only one to reach #1 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. The lyrics contain references to Dante Gabriel Rossetti's poem "A Superscription", and Shakespeare's "Merchant of Venice," as well as the song sharing the name of an American pornographic magazine. Ashlee Simpson did a short cover of this song on her Autobiography Tour-2005. The song received two Grammy nominations: Best Rock Song, losing to "Uninvited" by Alanis Morissette and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, losing to "Pink" by Aerosmith. ~ [Source:Wikipedia]
