Yes, I know its a tram not a train! You have to be careful of train enthusiasts yanno, psycho lot those trainspotters, but not as bad than those nutters the "green peaceniks" from Christchurch. If you want to see their loony toon antics just read this article or even this. I want peace as most normal people do but i don't see the logic in ramming nails in trees or paint balling boats. To me, it is bad as any other radical extremists or often fondly called .. terrorists. Back in 2001, just before the world went mad with another group of idiotic extremists, everyone was singing "Drops Of Jupiter" in the shower. (don't deny it, its ok now, you can come out of the shower) For example, the song peaked @ #5 in the USA, New Zealand, Australia, Belgium & Holland. Peaked #7 in Italy & #10 in England (what wrong with you people? chop chop) Hell, the song even earned the band 2 Grammys. Not bad for a days work. PS. Not one Asian was hurt in the making of this film.
The Single
which one is the drummer?
What started as two guys with strong voices and one guitar became San Francisco's Train by 1994. It was in late 1993 that Patrick Monahan left Erie, Pennsylvania and met up with the Los Angeles band, the Apostles. Lead singer/guitarist Rob Hotchkiss and fellow guitarist Jim Stafford had basically disbanded by this time, but the chance meeting with Patrick Monahan proved fortuitous as Hotchkiss extended an invitation to the crooning Monahan to become a two-man band. After making exhaustive appearances in low-key coffee houses, they decided to form a full band and enlisted former Apostles' members Stafford and bassist Charlie Colin. Colin brought along his good friend, drummer Scott Underwood and Train was on its way. Train settled in San Francisco to develop their sound in a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere. In an unlikely scenario, executives from Columbia Records expressed an interest and, in a somewhat cooperative strategy, farmed the fledling band out to the minors -- in this instance, Aware Records -- where they could grow naturally and unhurriedly. In 1997, they went on tour, opening for the likes of Blues Traveler, Barenaked Ladies and Counting Crows. Train knew they had arrived when they sold out a performance at San Francisco's prestigious venue, The Fillmore. Their completed debut album was released the following year. Drops of Jupiter followed three years later. ~ [Roxanne Blanford, All Music Guide]

The Album
2001
Although Train's singles got heavy rotation on "alternative" radio stations, there's nothing cutting-edge about Drops of Jupiter. Train is a classic rock wannabe band in the mold of Counting Crows. That's not always a bad thing. In fact, the best moments on Drops of Jupiter are the most blatant rip-offs. Does the hit title track remind you of Madman Across the Water-era Elton John? Well, it's no coincidence. Paul Buckmaster, who arranged the soaring strings on much of John's best work, reprises that role here, and session keyboardist extraordinaire Chuck Leavell channels John on the piano. And when lead singer Pat Monahan sings "When I get this feeling" in "It's About You," just try not to sing "I want sexual healing" by Marvin Gaye over the actual lyrics that follow. Overall, a safe, solid second effort from a band that knows how to write hit singles. ~ [Mark Morgenstein, All Music Guide]

Strange, I thought this song would have meant more to you than a bunch of extremists?

Oh it does, i am just shocked by your city's extremists. If your city is not on the news night after night for murder or pillage, boy racers, raciest extremists or violence, then i am surprised. Your Pop. is only 300 K yet you gaff at Auckland for its wild ways. Yet at 1.3 MILLION people ... we seem pretty behaved. What say you savage?
