2001*, the year of change, or, as the Chinese called it, year of the snake. Also if your born in 1965, you too are the snake sign. But for some of us 2001 was a virtual (places) time. In that year (in no order), we saw the birth of the Third Millennium, 4 major Earthquakes in 4 separate countries killing 13,200 people, Google patents its PageRank search algorithm, Apple release the now famous iPod, George Bush sworn into office (uh oh), UK: 1st outbreak of foot & mouth (something G Bush has been suffering from for years), a total solar eclipse occurs, Microsoft releases XP, India becomes the second nation in the world to register 1,000,000,000 people in its population, the great Sir Donald Bradman passes away as does John Lee Hooker & George Harrison. But most of all, 2001, was the year we remember New York being attacked, and more so by the images of that horrific day on September 11, Or, to put it this way best, "When the World Stopped Turning" by Alan Jackson. Because it meant the world was affected, not just America ....... and it still affects us all.
* Mellow Mix Vol One is based mostly on songs from 2001.
1974? I'm confused
Electronic pop chanteuse Dido entered London's Guildhall School of Music at age six, and by the time she reached her teens had already mastered piano, violin and recorder. After touring with a British classical ensemble, she accepted a publishing job, in the meanwhile singing in a series of local groups before joining the trip-hop outfit Faithless -- helmed by her older brother, the noted DJ and producer Rollo -- in 1995. As the group's 1996 debut Reverence went on to sell some five million copies worldwide, Dido began working on solo material, developing a lushly ethereal sound combining elements of acoustic pop and electronica; signing with Arista, she released her debut LP No Angel in mid-1999. ~ [Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide]
Here With Me
"Here with Me" is a song by Dido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong and first single released from her debut album No Angel. Dido wrote this song when she met her now ex boyfriend Bob Page and fell in love with him. This track can be found on Dido's promo album, "The Highbury Fields EP" from 1998. "Here With Me" was originally released as first track on debut album No Angel in 1999 in US. This song was used as the theme music for the American television drama Roswell (1999–2002). After re-releasing of No Angel in 2001, "Here With Me" was chosen to be the first single. It peaked at number-four in UK Singles Chart. ~ [Source:Wikipedia]
